Psychological Services : Pain Evaluations
psych_pain.jpgPain evaluations are tests used to evaluate functioning in emotional, social, and occupational settings, using both interview and objective measures.

The evaluation focuses on the relationship between psychological distress and the presentation of pain. Research has documented the critical role that thoughts, feelings and psychosocial factors can play in chronic pain. Perhaps the most vital message of this research is that psychological problems rarely cause pain, but the longer chronic pain exists, the more likely it is that emotional factors are prolonging it.

We will provide your referring physician with documentation of your pain complaints relative to psychological functioning, treatment recommendations, and diagnostic impresssions.

The testing and evaluation takes approximately four hours.
